Welcome to the 'Your Wedding Business' Blog!

Welcome to the "Your Wedding Business" blog! I have been wanting to write this blog for a long time but I always seem to be too busy to make time for it. Throughout the day, I think about really great things to write about. Instead of writing them into a blog, I find something else do to and the great thing doesn't get written. Have you ever felt like this?

Life is about priorities. There are only so many hours in a day and you spend (at least) 8 of them sleeping. One of the great things about being a small business owner is that you control your business. You control what clients you choose to take on, what advertising you decide to purchase (if any!), whether you have your business based in your home or at a studio, and how much you want to work. If you have read this far your small wedding business is a priority.

My husband accepted a new job in the Cleveland, Ohio, area earlier this year. When he told me in January that we'd be moving nearly four hours north, I thought to myself; 'Are you kidding me? We are going into booking season!' (For people new to the industry, booking season is January to March, or the time when most of the bridal shows take place after countless ladies receive a beautiful engagement ring over the holidays.) However, it gave me the chance to reflect about the direction I want my business to take.

For the past eight years, most vendors in Cincinnati and Dayton know me and "Your Dream Day" as a reputable, trustworthy, award-winning wedding planning firm. Favors are an email or phone call away with no questions asked. In Cleveland, no one knows who I am. I have no favors to cash in. I am a nobody. I'm right back where I started 8 years ago except for one thing -- I have references, a portfolio and I've tested business ideas that work. I am in the process of establishing my brand in this new market and hopefully my journey will inspire you to try new things with your business and keep you focused on making your business what you want it to be.

This is me :-) I hope you'll get to know me through this blog!
